Asynchronous transmission

Nederlands

Asynchronous Transmission is transmission in which the length of time between transmitted characters may vary. Because the time intervals between transmitted characters are not uniform, the receiving end must be signaled as to when the data bits of a character begin and when they end. Therefore, start bits and stop bits are used for each character that is transmitted. The receiver uses the start bits to synchronise the clock.
