WIDENS

Nederlands

Wireless Deployable Network System (WIDENS) was a European research and development project, in which European industry and universities worked together. The main objective of the project was to propose a system for an easily deployable wireless ad hoc network in the absence of infrastructure for public protection and disaster relief.

The system should be based on IP, reuse current RLAN standards and be scalable, reconfigurable, reliable and secure. The system should be capable to deliver high data-rate enhanced services, including real-time audio and video communications.

The WIDENS project is part of the sixth Framework Programme of the European Union. The project ended in January 2006 with a demonstration of the system. The project lasted two years.
