Visual radio

Nederlands

Visual radio is a radio transmission whereby images and text or internet page(s) are broadcasted together with the radio program itself. The information is synchronized with the radio broadcast to bring information and interactivity directly to the listener.

Digital radio standards such as DAB, have their own ability to send additional information to the user. To make interactivity possible, a return channel is needed. This channel can be accomodated by e.g an mobile telephony network.

Visual radio is also accommodated by mobile phones with an integrated (analog) radio, such as FM radio. In this case, the mobile phone network (e.g. GPRS) is used to deliver the information to the listener.
