SMIL

Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language (SMIL; pronounced as "smile") is a language used on the Internet for interactive multimedia presentations which integrate audio, video, images, text or any other media type. SMIL introduces a time line for the different multimedia elements on web pages to make animations and other time coordinated and synchronized actions possible in a web page.

SMIL 2.1 defined Mobile Profiles for web pages with multimedia content for mobile users with small screens.
