IEEE 802.15.3c

IEEE 802.15.3c is a task group from the IEEE 802.15 working group that develops the specifications for a wireless personal area network (WPAN) in the millimeter wave band.

This 802.15.3c WPAN will operate in the 60 GHz band on a unlicensed basis, including the 57-64 GHz band defined by the FCC.

The millimeter-wave WPAN will support high data rates of at least 1 Gbit/s. Applications will include high speed internet access, streaming content download (e.g. video on demand, home theater). Very high data rates in excess of 2 Gbps will be provided for simultaneous time dependent applications such as real time multiple HDTV video stream and wireless data bus for cable replacement.
