Freedom of Multimedia Access (FOMA) is the brand name used by Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo for its third generation mobile service based on UMTS FDD WCDMA technology.

FOMA went live on 1 October 2001 and was the first operational IMT-2000 compliant 3G network.
