EMC: Electromagnetic Compatibility

Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is the ability of equipment or systems to be used in their intended environment without causing or receiving degradation due to unintentional electromagnetic interference (EMI).

All electric equipment produce electromagnetic radiation and can be affected by electromagnetic interference. Electric equipment is therefore subject to rules designed to prevent the production of too much radiation (emission) and to ensure that it can still operate within a certain level of electromagnetic radiation produced by other equipment (immunity).
