A datagram is a packet of data send through a datagram packet switched network. A datagram is given sufficient information to be routed from the source to the destination without any knowledge of the transporting network or earlier exchanges between this source and destination. The datagrams are send and received completely independent of each other.
Undoubtely, the best known networks that makes use of datagrams is the Internet.
